Common questions

FAQ

Does GLP-1 medication lower testosterone in men?

Short answer: no — in most cases it does the opposite. Research shows significant weight loss can normalize testosterone levels in men with obesity-related low-T. Studies on semaglutide users show testosterone moving from deficient range to normal range for many men. Muscle loss during rapid weight loss is a real concern; that's a training and protein intake problem, not a hormone problem.

Can I take ED medication while on blood pressure meds?

Usually yes, with one hard exception: nitrates. If you take nitroglycerin or any nitrate, sildenafil and tadalafil are off the table — the combination can cause dangerously low blood pressure. Most other BP meds (ACE inhibitors, ARBs, calcium channel blockers) are compatible. Any licensed telehealth provider will screen for this during intake.

Is finasteride actually safe? I've read scary things.

The clinical trial data shows sexual side effects in about 1–2% of users — most of which resolve when stopped. Post-finasteride syndrome exists but is rare. Topical formulations (offered by several providers here) deliver the DHT-blocking effect directly to the scalp with far less systemic exposure, which is one reason they've become popular for men who want the benefit with lower risk.

Do I need insurance to use these providers?

No. Most providers listed are cash-pay / subscription-based and bypass insurance entirely. This is often faster and cheaper than the insurance route for GLP-1s, ED meds, and TRT. HSA and FSA cards are typically accepted. Sesame Care is the exception — it's built to work with insurance for brand-name Wegovy and Zepbound.

What's the difference between compounded and brand-name GLP-1?

Brand-name GLP-1s (Wegovy, Zepbound, Ozempic, Mounjaro) are FDA-approved and manufactured by Novo Nordisk or Eli Lilly. Compounded versions are made by licensed 503A or 503B pharmacies using the same active ingredients. They cost significantly less and have been the primary access path during brand-name shortages. The FDA declared the shortage resolved in 2025, so regulations have tightened — which makes picking a reputable, LegitScript-monitored provider more important than ever.

How fast do these ship?

Most providers ship within 2–5 business days of prescription approval. Approval itself typically takes 24–72 hours after intake (faster for ED and hair, slower for GLP-1 and TRT since they require more screening). Discreet packaging is standard across all providers listed.
